About Tangential Adventures

Welcome to the Tangential Adventures Blog!

Since re-discovering the outdoors in 2002, I have found a new balance in my life.  Once content to spend nearly all of my time behind a computer monitor, a portion of my free time has now been devoted to outdoor pursuits.  I’m most passionate about mountain biking, and have been an avid rider since the summer of 2002.  I’ve also broadened my outdoor interests to include hiking, backpacking, kayaking, rock climbing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.

In this blog you’ll find my own personal tales of trips and adventures, often peppered with a bit of technology for good measure.  In most cases, the long rambling tales will only be of interest to me, or perhaps to those who were with me for particular trips.  However, I do hope that some people find it useful, and maybe discover a new hike or a ride that they didn’t know about before.

I enjoy capturing GPS track logs of rides, hikes and paddles, and you’ll find many of those throughout my posts.  I also am known for shooting a lot of photographs and the occasional video to capture the moments.  In the past, before I had a useful smart phone, I went to some lengths to cobble together technology to be able to post field reports to the blog from the road which included GPS and photo data.  Once a geek, always a geek.
