Engraving Spindle for Mill (2010)

I designed and fabricated a bracket to mount a Proxxon Micromot 50/EF rotary tool to the head of my CNC milling machine.  This small rotary tool is capable of running up to 20,000 RPM, and holding small tools with its collet system.  This makes it perfect for CNC engraving tasks, as the main spindle on my machine is only capable of around 2000RPM, which is much too slow for tiny engraving cutters to perform well.

This was one of my earliest CNC projects, and was the first for which I designed and fabricated a simple fixture to hold the workpiece.
